AI Apps for Employers & Job Seekers

Summary

As our SkillsEngine team’s product leader, part of my role is to push ahead of the core platform design and development teams and explore new technologies, services, and features to determine their value and applicability to our work. One way I do this is by developing light weight “micro” applications that can be shipped early to gauge community interest and potential value.

With the recent rise of LLMs, our team has been working to incorporate generative AI into our stack. As this was happening, we needed to simultaneously explore some of the immediate ways LLMs could bring additional value to the skills-based job, credential, curriculum and personal profiles we help users build and manage.

To do this, I designed and developed three Python Flask applications using OpenAI’s API’s, Tailwind CSS, and Flowbite. These applications targeted simple and common use cases related to career development that could leverage skills data and skills-first thinking to provide better outcomes.
