Summary

Principal business leader and product owner of SkillsEngine, a skills-based workforce analysis and labor market alignment platform. SkillsEngine is a commercial startup venture born from the Center for Employability Outcomes (C4EO) at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) — the only public US college funded based on student career outcomes.

My role: Principal business leader and product owner leading 0 to 1 development, design, strategy, and GTM for commercial startup venture developed from college IP.

First of its kind skills data platform for workforce analysis and labor market alignment.

Outcomes

• Successfully led pivot of business and product strategy from custom solutions, to B2B platform data
• Rebuilt team to 10-15 engineers, designers, and PMs
• Personally developed early MVP prototypes and proofs of concept for key AI features including text-to-skills conversion, gap analysis, description generation, career pathway mapping, and more.
• Led the creation of a first-of-it’s-kind skills based workforce analysis and labor market alignment platform.

Curate

Skills data curation, management, and distribution for large scale organizations serious about aligning industry talent demand and training provider supply.

Text-to-skills

Skills data can be highly valuable for enhancing curriculum development and optimizing talent pipeline effectiveness. But it traditionally requires significant financial and time investment, and access to niche advanced expertise.

Created an AI-driven agentic workflow to convert unstructured text — job posts, curriculum, and resumés — into structured skills data anchored to the SkillsEngine common skills language. Led end-to-end feature development, from early prototyping, design, and MVP architecture through team execution and ongoing improvement.

• Created a first-of-its-kind agentic AI workforce data transformation feature. Replaced days of expert consulting work and thousands of dollars in associated costs with a <5 minute AI-driven process leveraging SkillsEngine’s proprietary data.
• Developed early system flows, proofs of concept, and Python prototypes of agentic workflows and prompts.
• Oversaw design and engineering execution of the feature in collaboration with the Senior Director of Engineering.

Design posters

A nine-poster series built around SkillsEngine’s core workforce-development themes — closing the skills gap, teaching what matters, upskilling, and career growth — each pairing a bold PSA-style message with AI-generated illustration. The posters doubled as a design-process experiment: using generative AI image tools to augment (not replace) the creative process, and testing how far AI-assisted illustration could carry a cohesive, on-brand visual campaign from concept to finished poster.
