Summary
Principal business leader and product owner of SkillsEngine, a skills-based workforce analysis and labor market alignment platform. SkillsEngine is a commercial startup venture born from the Center for Employability Outcomes (C4EO) at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) — the only public US college funded based on student career outcomes.
My role: Principal business and product owner leading 0 to 1 development, design, strategy, and GTM for commercial startup venture developed from college IP.
Led the strategic pivot from B2E to B2B, including reimagining the SkillsEngine technology architecture, product strategy, and business model — from custom software + services to SaaS/DaaS platform + APIs.
First of its kind skills data modeling and industry demand alignment platform for work and learning communities.
Outcomes
- Successfully led pivot of business and product strategy
- Rebuilt team of 10-15 engineers, designers, and PMs emphasizing high output, low meeting culture — including staffing, and team building
- Personally developed early MVP functional prototypes for key AI features including text-to-skills converstion, gap analysis, description generation, career pathway map generation, and more.
- Established new brand, market presence, GTM strategy, and business model
